Step 4 - Bunt and Split 'S'.

Fixed Wing Silver

The Bunt is probably the most under-practiced and feared manouevre in the Silver schedule - after all, we've all smashed enough models without deliberately pointing them at the ground! Good practice for the Bunt and achieving a consistent height is to string together a Loop, Immelmann Turn, Bunt and Split 'S'. Since you finish up where you started, this procedure can then be repeated. You don't see many panic-free Bunts! Try to track through the same path taken for the Loop. See our page on the Bunt in the Aerobatic section for more details on other ways to practice this manouvre.

As with the loops, it is important that you vary the throttle and elevator as you progress round the Bunt. The Bunt should be the same diameter as the loops that you did in the previous step.

Continue on, straight and level after completing the bunt then roll inverted, throttle back and pull a half loop to execute the Split S. Power back up at the bottom and get your wings level again.
