Who are We?

About DMAC

D.M.A.C. are affiliated to and are active participants in the Scottish Aeromodellers Association (S.A.A.), the national body governing our hobby. Our aim is to promote Radio Control Aeromodelling as an enjoyable and safe hobby for all.

Club members enjoy virtually unlimited access to our superb flying site throughout the year and are issued with an M.O.D. pass allowing access to the flying site even when members of the public are not allowed onto the Camp and Ranges. We fly all year round, mainly weekends in winter and most days and evenings in summer.

To avoid the disappointment of being turned away at the camp entrance by the Forces' personnel, please contact us before visiting.

We regularly fly all major disciplines of our hobby such as Control Line / Electric / Helicopters / Scale / Slope Soaring / Sport / Aerobatics. Many of the different types of models that we fly are featured in our Club Models Photo Gallery. These disciplines can all co-exist because of the easy going nature of D.M.A.C.

Thoughout the long dark months of winter, D.M.A.C. holds a number of functions including excellent talks by some of the top experts on model aircraft related subjects. We have been entertained in the past on diverse subjects such as Scale Model Finishing by the (late) great Jocky Robertson, Model Engines by Don Imrie, Flying Model Helicopters by Alan Head, Fibre Glassing Techniques by Brian Sharp. Over this period, we hold our A.G.M. as well as running Bring And Buy sales. All these events are held in a local boozer hostelry which probably accounts for their popularity!

D.M.A.C. holds it's annual "Fly-in" weekend towards the end of September and many friends from all over the country gather at Barry to fly, swap stories and on the Saturday evening, go for a curry and a few beers! Definitely one of the year's highlights!
