Checking Your Model.

Safety Rules Club Visit Frequency Control Instructors Model Check Learing to Fly

InspectPlane

On arrival at the field, your instructor will carefully check over your model for operation. He will explain the frequency control system and the basic operation of your radio gear to you. Sometimes, the instructor will insist that some modification be made to your model before it is flown. Usually this can be done at the field but if the modification is more extensive, swallow your disappointment, go home and follow his advice. A problem at ground level can be fixed, one in the air can't be!

The instructor will show you how to safely start your engine and run it in. If everything's O.K. he will test fly your aircraft and trim it out for straight and level flight. You may even get some "hands-on" experience! If all this can be achieved on your first visit to the flying field, you will have done well.

The major objectives of the first day's visit are to enjoy yourself, meet other Club members, become acquainted with some basic Club rules and to get your aircraft safely test flown. Anything else is a bonus. Remember that an impatient model flier has to be a prolific builder!!!!
